Rockport’s 34th
annual Seafair will be held Friday, Oct. 10 through Sunday, Oct. 12 in
Rockport, Texas on the festival grounds near Rockport Harbor. The
conception of Seafair was brought forth by Bill Christian in 1975. Bill
envisioned an event to help enrich the community in the fall by
celebrating its main industry, the sea! The Seafair has been under the
Chamber’s reign now for 6 years and this year will be our biggest
celebration of the sea to date!
It’s three huge days of fun in Rockport. Don’t miss the
hilarious crab races, inventive cardboard boat races, a huge gumbo
cook-off, kids fishing tournament, arts and crafts vendors, Seafair Market
vendors, cooking demonstrations, delicious varieties of food from local
food vendors, live entertainment and so much more!!!
ABC School Children’s Activities
The children’s
activities tent will be coordinated by ABC School and Learning Center. The
ABC Board of Directors work hard to make this event a lot of fun for kids
at Seafair. There will be lots of games and activities such as face
painting, ornament painting, sea life sponge prints, spin art and the sea
(wheel) of fortune.
Crab Race
track set to go
Mike
Probst, editor and publisher of The Rockport Pilot is the official
Crab Meister for the Crab Races to be held at 4 p.m. on both Saturday,
Oct. 11 and Sunday, Oct. 12. The Crab Race Track will be located on the
east side of the grounds near the Outdoor Fun Tent. To race a crab all you
need to do is show up at the race track. Crabs are provided. The cost is
$5 per race. Get a fast crab and let them race Saturday or Sunday,
you’ll be surprised at how quickly those little crustaceans can peel
out!
Seafair parade kicks off Saturday

a parade and the annual parade is a premier event for Seafair. This
year’s parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. The parade route
