Wetland Explorer

The boat is a specially designed shallow
water research vessel owned and operated by Texas A&M- Corpus
Christi. It can carry up to 30 passengers and float in less than
two feet of water. The vessel is outfitted with various scientific
equipment including video microscopes, otter trawl, complete hydro-lab,
and many other extras. With a little planning, people could board
the vessel from the fairgrounds and take a short tour around Little
Bay. Various ecologic topics will be discussed and scientific
equipment will be utilized. There will be no charge for the tours,
and they will be ongoing Saturday and Sunday at Seafair.
We
will also like to present our modified "walk through the
Wetlands" display. This interactive display contains over 50
museum specimens of Coastal Bend wildlife. All exhibits are
"hands on" and encourage learning about our coastal wetlands.
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Center for Coastal Studies
staff will be on hand to answer questions and discuss current
research in local environmental studies. Of course the popular
"mystery" touch boxes will be present for all young inquiring
minds.
